Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel, formerly known as Wilkinson County Mortuary, located at 142 Wriley Road, Irwinton, Ga, was founded in 1965 by two great local community pioneers the late Mr. John Smith and Rev. Dorsey L. Knight. In 1965 the funeral home operated in the name of Smith & Knight Funeral Home to represent the families that united to serve our community. For many years Wilkinson County Mortuary served our county with great dignity and great pride. After the death of Mr. John Smith, Rev. Dorsey Knight and the Knight and Smith families continued serving Wilkinson and surrounding counties.
In 2010 Wilkinson County Mortuary officially closed its doors. After two years of not serving the local community a young visionary, which saw a need and great potential to serve Wilkinson and surrounding counties once again, assisted Rev. Dorsey Knight prior to his death saw a vision to bring Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel back to our local community. The young visionary was Kendrick K. Mack of Dublin, Ga, which founded Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel, and in June of 2012 the doors were officially reopened. Kendrick along with his wife Brandilyn Cristy-Pitts formerly of Irwinton and son Kendrick K. Mack Jr. now operate Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel. We are a full operational funeral home that's "Large enough to serve you, and Small enough to care." The vision is unfolding.
